A couple of FO’s.

Shall I do this in chronological order?  Methinks I shall… 😉

Not So Much With the Capelet

Not So Much With the Capelet

I finished this on December 13 – just in time to put it on and get ready for my SIL’s 13th birthday.  Yes, I have a SIL young enough to be my own child.  What can I say?  My MIL lost her mind a long time ago.  😉

I used the crochet version of the Anthropologie Inspired Capelet pattern – I just extended the length of both the body and the sleeves.  So no, the sides are not supposed to meet in the front, and yes, it does fit correctly.  I used approximately 1250 meters of DK weight yarn to make it.  I had a little bit left over of each color and approximately half a skein left of the gray when I was done, I just don’t know how to calculate the EXACT meterage of what I used.

I just finished this one today, actually.  It’s the Chevron Lace Cardigan pattern by milobo.  I bought 4 skeins of yarn but used only 3 of them, 984 meters’ worth.  There was a little bit left over, but not much.

I had a little bit of a problem at first, but that had to do with my not reading clearly enough, not the pattern itself.

I’m seriously considering seeing if I can find some “fancy” yarn and doing another one to use when I go out drinking with my friends.  Maybe something with some sparkle to it, in a fairly neutral color so I can wear it with different outfits.

And it was a quick crochet, too – if I hadn’t had to frog almost an entire sweater and redo it (I was almost done with the body before I realized I’d made a mistake and then had to frog all the way back to row 6), I probably would have had this done yesterday, if not the day before.  That’s a plus!  *two thumbs up*

Syrina’s been checking it out today, and I’m seriously considering doing one for her, too – one of the smaller sizes should fit her perfectly.  I’d just have to make sure I make the sleeves 3/4 or shorter – she likes to chew on the cuffs of her clothing, and she’d rip holes in a crocheted sweater in a heartbeat.  I think Caitlin wants one, too.

I’ve finished a few other things as well, but don’t have pictures done of them just yet.  I’ve taken SOME pictures, but they’re on the old camera, and it’s upstairs, and I simply don’t feel like doing it right now.

And yes, I said “old camera” as in I have a NEW one!  😀  Hubby got me one for Christmas – a Kodak Easy Share C813.  The picture quality is MILES better than my old camera, and it has features that my old camera couldn’t even dream of having.  I’m in love with this thing, can ya tell?  😉

We need sponsors!!!!

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m the new CAL Administrator in the Crochet on Ravelry group.  However, I’m also helping out with COR’s Crocheted Finished Object of the Year (CFOY) contest.

For the month of December, we’re opening it up to all members to post pictures of crocheted items they’ve made this year – anything, as long as it was FINISHED in 2008.  After some discussion, the mods have decided to even allow items that were started before 2008, as long as they were finished in this calendar year.  It can be anything, from anybody – even professionals are included, though they have their own category (no fair pitting professionals against newbies, is it?). As I said, it can be any item, but each item can only be entered once, in a single category.  (In other words, if you have something that would fit into two or more categories, you have to choose which one to enter it under, because it can only be entered once.)

The categories are:

The one thing we’re short on?  Sponsors.  We are in need of approximately 20 prizes for the winners, and only have 3 volunteers so far.  Some people have been contacted but not replied, but our biggest problem is simply a shortage of people to contact to ASK for sponsorship!

(And here’s where I finally get to the point; yes, I can be wordy.)

SO!  Are you an LYS owner?  A pattern designer?  An Etsy shop owner?  A spinner?  A stitch-marker-maker?  Would you like to donate a prize for one of our winners?

Anything that is in any way crochet-related is welcome.  Yarns, patterns, hooks, stitch markers, hook cases… you get the idea.  If you’re interested, please, contact me!  Either leave a response here, or, if you’re not comfortable doing that, you can email me.  yarnkrazykreationz [AT] who [DOT] net.

Thanks!!!! 😀
